Twisted Bine Beer Co., a new restaurant and brewery, is slated to open in Mount Joy this summer.

Construction of the new brewpub at 93 E. Main St. (Main and Barbara streets) is underway. It will take a spot that was recently occupied by a furniture store.

Encompassing some 5,000 square feet of space, Twisted Bine Beer Co. will feature a roughly 100-seat restaurant and a 7-barrel beermaking system.

Twisted Bine will make a variety of seasonal beer styles, offering eight on tap at a time alongside a few beers from other Pennsylvania brewers.

The restaurant menu will feature traditional bar food such as burgers and sandwiches.

Twisted Bine is owned by Jamie and Susan Lowell, who are being helped by two longtime homebrewers as well as a brewery consultant.

The Lowells, who bought the property in June 2017 for $362,500, are overseeing an extensive renovation which includes updating the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

They also are revealing the original wooden floors, beams and bricks of the circa-1923 building. And, new glass has been put in the front of the building as well as a glass garage doors on the side that can be opened in warm weather.

The Lowells declined to estimate the project’s cost.
